The Mayrhofen Moment
Ski with Pride wasn’t born in a boardroom; it was born in a mountain restaurant in Mayrhofen, Austria, in January 2026. While taking a break from the slopes, we noticed the usual collage of stickers and graffiti that covers almost every surface in the Alps. Among them, someone had written the word “Pride” on a wall—but someone else had crudely defaced it with a hateful slur in front of it. In that moment, it hit us: despite our years of skiing and numerous trips to the world’s most beautiful peaks, we realized we hadn’t seen a single pride flag or symbol of LGBTQ+ visibility anywhere on the mountain. We decided right then that the silence had to end. Ski with Pride exists to reclaim that space and bring colour to the peaks, ensuring that every skier and snowboarder knows they belong, one sticker at a time.
Built with Heart (and a bit of guesswork)
To be completely honest, we aren’t professional web developers or seasoned business owners. We built this website with almost zero knowledge of how to run an online store or how to navigate the world of printing and shipping. We are learning every step of the way, fueled simply by the belief that visibility on the slopes matters. Because this is a labor of love, we make very little profit from these stickers. Every penny we do make goes directly back into the project—covering our monthly hosting fees and helping us expand our range of designs so we can bring even more colour to more mountains. We’re figuring this out as we go, and we are so grateful to have you on this journey with us.
What’s Next?
- Improve the map to allow users to find their currect location easier with GPS.
- More sticker designs.
- Improve store layout (i.e have all place names under one item).
- Start pushing the site on social media.
- Hard wearing, permanent, UV resistant stickers.
